The phases of the Amazon Fund: assessment of the implementation of projects in the Indigenous Territories in Carajás PA

There was a reduction in deforestation in the Amazon, however, due to the changes in the governance of Amazon Fund imposed by the Bolsonaro government, there was a return to deforestation, mainly in the municipalities of Pará. The article compares the balance of projects subsidized by the Amazon Fund in the sub-region of Carajás, in Pará, in the years 2008 to 2020, with an emphasis on two analysis movements: analyze the distribution of resources to implement projects for the state scales of the Legal Amazon; identify the projects managed by Amazon Fund resources at the territorial scale, in the area covered by the sub-region of Carajás. Despite the reduction in the pace of deforestation in the years 2009 to 2015, the shutdown of the Amazon Fund and the dismantling of environmental monitoring bodies reverberated in the increase in deforestation as of 2019, mainly in the Indigenous Lands of Carajás.
